BCA Bearings and The HUB

Project Overview:

In collaboration with the automotive-centric EXTEND Group, I had the incredible opportunity to partner with industry leaders, including BCA Bearings. The project, centered around their new website “The HUB,” aimed to spotlight their hub assemblies and bearings. Additionally, an eCatalog was in the works, allowing customers to effortlessly search for parts based on various criteria. The scope extended beyond the digital realm to include consistent social media branding, convention booth displays, banners, print materials, and a groundbreaking app known as “The HUB by BCA Bearings.

About BCA Bearings:

BCA Bearings, a key player in the automotive aftermarket, sought to elevate its digital presence. The HUB project was conceived to provide users with a seamless experience, featuring user-friendly eCatalogs, social media consistency, and an innovative app.

My Role:

My responsibilities were multifaceted. I took the lead in designing The HUB website and shaping the look and feel of the eCatalog search features. The challenge was to create a site that was not only user-friendly but also boasted a cutting-edge design aligned with BCA Bearings’ brand. Collaboration was key, and together with my colleagues at EXTEND Group, we crafted a site and eCatalog that precisely met the client’s needs. Beyond the digital realm, I played a pivotal role in designing convention booths, print materials, and more.

Additionally, I was tasked with creating the UI and UX of The HUB app. This comprehensive app included the eCatalog for quick part identification, the ability to scan the VIN for quick part search, how-to videos, tech support, blogs, and more.

Tools and Technologies:

For the digital aspects of the project, I utilized Lucidchart to create the wireframe of the website. In the design phase, Photoshop and Illustrator were my go-to tools for crafting graphics, including buttons, transitions, hover effects, backgrounds, and advertisements. All design assets were seamlessly passed to our developer for implementation.

Achievements:

The HUB proved to be a resounding success, earning multiple prestigious awards, including the President’s Award in the Mobile Catalog category at ACPN 2016 and recognition at the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo. The app received accolades for its innovation, solidifying BCA Bearings’ commitment to excellence in the automotive aftermarket industry.
